The Official Team Of Adele Tumblr. Bringing you news, show info, and much more!
Celine Dion, the queen of Las Vegas, with a voice on an angel, is set to perform Adele’s best selling song ‘Rolling In The Deep’ in her new show at Caesars Palace. When Celine started her show after having twins, she did a medley of Michael Jackson, but as it looks right now, she will remove that and replace it with Adele!
It’s great to see that even the biggest female star in music want’s to sing one of the most played songs in the world!
We wish Celine Dion all the best, and we hope that her cover of Adele will be something to remember!
Adele has usurped Michael Jackson’s seminal ‘Thriller’ in the list of the UK’s top selling albums of all time.
The Official Charts Company this morning (May 3) confirmed that her album ‘21’ is now the fifth top selling record to be released in Britain.
It has now sold a staggering 4,274,300 copies since its release in 2011, meaning that it has overtaken ‘Thriller’ by some 500 units.
She still has some way to go however to impact on the list’s top spots, with Queen’s ‘Greatest Hits’ and The Beatles’ ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ the top two selling albums.
Official Charts Company Managing Director Martin Talbot commented:
“To add to her many landmark records, Adele’s achievement in overtaking Thriller in the all-time sales list is truly remarkable. Thriller has long been recognised as one of the most iconic albums of all time - there is now no doubt that 21 can be spoken of in the same breath.”
Adele just outsold Pink Floyd’s 1973 classic The Dark Side of the Moon. The singer’s ‘21’ album keeps rolling in deep with record breaking statistics. The recent takeover means that her album is the 7th highest selling album in the UK. Her worldwide sales are around 20 million. Adele will have to surpass Queen, The Beatles, Abba, Oasis and Michael Jackson in order to get to the UK’s top 5 highest grossing albums of all time.
The Rolling In The Deep singer won 55 per cent of the 4,000 votes, while nearest rival Lady Gaga got 19 per cent.
Gaydar’s programme controller Robin Crowley said: “Adele has numerous Grammys and Brits, but this is the accolade she’s been waiting for.”
Gay rugby star Gareth Thomas was voted Celebrity of the Year.
Poor Jason Mraz!
While Lionel Richie was able to steal last week’s number one Billboard spot from Adele in the US, Lady A just keeps roll’n in the deep in the UK!
The results of last weeks sales are in, and the diva’s record breaking 21 beat Mraz’s new album Love Is A Four Letter Word — by just 44 copies! So close!
Jason was able to beat and defeat someone in the charts though. He knocked Nicki Minaj out of second place to third.
All together, sales were NOT fab in the UK over the weekend. Adele and Mraz only sold 17,000 units — that’s the lowest total for a number one album since 1995!
Better luck next week Jason!
